National Trust for the Handicapped

The National Trust for the Handicapped runs the Sahan School for the mentally challenged children in New Delhi.

The 2-acre campus was underutilised required major restructuring, additions and imrpovements.

The design for the school provides for convenient and child friendly environment for the children.

Open areas adjoining classrooms facilitate a felxible indoor and outdoor learning spaces.

Courtyards within the buildings are areas for sensory gardens, herb gardens vegetable gardens etc.

These gardens provide sensory and stimulatory environments to the children.

Classroom learning is augmented through threapeutic facilities and vocational training to maximise self sufficiency in the children.

To make the school self sufficient and fund the expansion of facilities, part of the site is developed as coporate offices for leasing.

Location, entries and facilities for the corporate offices are provided such to cause no disruption to the school environment.
